Background & Origin

Sakazuki rose through the ranks of the Marines as one of three admirals beneath the Fleet Admiral, alongside Kizaru and Aokiji. He earned a reputation as the most extreme enforcer of the Marines' creed — a man willing to sacrifice innocents and allies alike to wipe out anything he deemed evil.

His nickname, the 'Red Dog', spread fear even among his own subordinates.

Story & Growth

At the Marineford war, Akainu's brutality reached its peak when he struck down Portgas D. Ace — an act that scarred Luffy and ended the life of Whitebeard's son.

After the war, he and Aokiji fought a ten-day duel for the title of Fleet Admiral. Akainu won, and Aokiji left the Marines rather than serve under him. As Fleet Admiral, Sakazuki now commands the full might of the Navy.

Abilities & Powers

Sakazuki ate the Magu Magu no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that lets him create, control and become magma — a power said to outrank even fire in destructive heat.

He wields Haki alongside his Devil Fruit, and as Fleet Admiral he stands among the most powerful and feared men the Marines have ever produced.
