Background & Origin
Rosinante was born a Celestial Dragon alongside his brother Doflamingo, and shared the fall that came when their family renounced that status.
But where Doflamingo's heart filled with hatred, Rosinante's did not. In secret he became a Marine officer, and went undercover inside his own brother's crew — the Donquixote Pirates — as the masked officer 'Corazon', feeding intelligence to the Navy.
Story & Growth
Corazon found a dying child among the crew: Trafalgar Law, sick with a fatal disease and consumed by hatred.
Unable to abandon him, Corazon abandoned his mission instead, racing across the world to find a cure. He gave Law the Ope Ope no Mi to save his life — and was shot dead by his own brother for it. His sacrifice became the single most important moment of Law's life.

Rosinante ate the Nagi Nagi no Mi, a Paramecia Devil Fruit that lets him create zones of perfect silence.
Within them no sound escapes — making the fruit ideal for a spy, letting him speak, move and fight completely unheard. He was also a trained and capable Marine officer.
