Background & Origin

Sengoku served as the Fleet Admiral of the Marines, the supreme commander of the world's naval force, through one of its most turbulent eras. A brilliant tactician, he was known as 'Sengoku the Strategist' long before his other titles.

He commanded the Marines alongside his old comrade and rival, the hero Garp.

Story & Growth

Sengoku led the Marines at the Marineford war — the Summit War against Whitebeard fought over the execution of Ace. Though the Marines technically won, the cost in lives and chaos weighed heavily on him.

In its aftermath Sengoku resigned as Fleet Admiral, passing the title on, and remained with the Marines only as an instructor — training the next generation rather than commanding the fleet.

Abilities & Powers

Sengoku ate a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, which lets him transform into a giant golden Buddha and unleash powerful shockwaves.

A veteran of countless campaigns, he is a master tactician and Haki user, and was strong enough to hold the Marines' highest rank for many years.
