Background & Origin

Sabo was born into a wealthy noble family in the Goa Kingdom, but he despised the cruelty and snobbery of his class. He ran away to the wild Gray Terminal, where he met two other boys — Luffy and Ace — and the three swore an oath of brotherhood.

Dreaming of sailing away to see the world and write a book about it, Sabo set out to sea in a small boat — only for a passing Celestial Dragon to shoot it down. The world believed Sabo dead.

Story & Growth

Sabo survived, but with no memory of his past, and was taken in by the Revolutionary Army led by Monkey D. Dragon. He rose through its ranks to become its Chief of Staff, second only to Dragon himself.

His memories returned when he learned of Ace's death. Later, at the Dressrosa tournament, Sabo claimed Ace's Devil Fruit — the Mera Mera no Mi — keeping his brother's flame alive and carrying it into the Revolutionary Army's war against the World Government.

Abilities & Powers

Sabo wields the Mera Mera no Mi, the flame Logia once eaten by his brother Ace, letting him create, control and transform into fire.

Even before the fruit he was a formidable fighter, trained in a martial art he calls the 'Dragon Claw', and he has honed his Haki to a level befitting the Revolutionary Army's second-in-command.
