Background & Origin
Bentham served as Mr. 2 Bon Clay, one of the numbered officer agents of Baroque Works, the secret criminal organisation led by Crocodile.
A proud okama and a fighter who battles in a ballet-inspired style, Bentham first crossed the Straw Hats as an enemy during their journey to the desert kingdom of Alabasta.
Story & Growth
Despite being an enemy, Bentham came to genuinely love the Straw Hats as friends, and after Crocodile's defeat he risked everything to help them escape Alabasta.
Later, imprisoned in Impel Down, he joined Luffy's desperate jailbreak — and in its final moments stayed behind to hold a crucial gate open, sacrificing his own freedom so that Luffy could reach his brother Ace.

Bentham ate the Mane Mane no Mi, a Paramecia Devil Fruit that lets him perfectly copy the face — and with it the appearance — of anyone he has touched, storing a whole repertoire of disguises.
He fights in a unique ballet-based martial art he calls 'Okama Kenpo', delivering elegant, swan-themed kicks from his swan-tipped shoes.
