Background & Origin
Born heir to the ruling family of Wano Country, Oden was too big in spirit for his isolated homeland. As a young man he longed only to leave and see the open world.
He finally got his wish, sailing first with the Whitebeard Pirates and then with the Roger Pirates — becoming one of the very few people ever to reach the final island, Laugh Tale, alongside Gol D. Roger.
Story & Growth
Oden returned to a Wano that had fallen under the control of the shogun Kurozumi Orochi and the Emperor Kaido. To buy his people time and protect the country's future, he endured a public execution: a full hour standing in a cauldron of boiling oil.
Though he survived the hour, he was killed anyway — but his sacrifice, and the records he left behind, lit the fuse for the rebellion that would one day free Wano.
Abilities & Powers
Oden was one of the strongest samurai of his age, fighting with a unique two-sword style and wielding the legendary blades Enma and Ame no Habakiri.
His Haki was so powerful that he left a permanent scar on the Emperor Kaido — a wound the 'Strongest Creature' carried for twenty years afterward.
