Background & Origin

Vegapunk's intellect is so vast that he is said to be five hundred years ahead of the rest of humanity. The World Government recruited him as its chief scientist, setting him up on the futuristic Egghead Island.

It was Vegapunk who created the Pacifista cyborg weapons, decoded the science of Devil Fruits, and produced countless other breakthroughs in the Government's service.

Though he worked for the World Government, Vegapunk was never truly its servant — and his endless curiosity eventually led him to research the forbidden truths of the world's lost history.

For knowing too much, the Government turned on its own greatest mind, marking the scientist for elimination — and drawing the Straw Hats into events on Egghead Island.
