Background & Origin

Crocus tends the lighthouse at the Twin Cape, the gateway that guides ships through Reverse Mountain and into the Grand Line.

He is also the guardian of Laboon, an enormous whale who waits at the cape — left behind by the Rumbar Pirates half a century ago, and watched over by Crocus ever since.

Story & Growth

For three years Crocus left his post to serve as the doctor of the Roger Pirates, helping the ailing Gol D. Roger complete his final voyage.

Afterward he returned to the Twin Cape and to Laboon, and it was Crocus who, decades later, told the Straw Hats the whale's story — a tale of promises and waiting that would shape Brook's place in their crew.
