Tony Tony Chopper

Chopper was a reindeer born with a blue nose, an oddity that saw him driven out by his own herd. Alone, he ate the Hito Hito no Mi, a Devil Fruit that gave him human intelligence and speech — but it only made him a monster in the eyes of reindeer and humans alike.

He was taken in by Dr. Hiriluk, a kind-hearted quack who treated Chopper as a son and taught him that no illness is truly incurable. After Hiriluk's death, the witch-doctor Dr. Kureha took the young reindeer as her apprentice and trained him in real medicine on Drum Island.

When the Straw Hats came to Drum Island, Luffy — far from fearing the 'monster' — simply demanded that Chopper join his crew. Chopper became the Straw Hats' doctor, and with them finally found people who accepted him completely.

During the crew's two-year separation he trained to master his transformations, growing from a timid creature into a capable doctor and fighter who still carries Hiriluk's belief that any sickness can be cured.

Chopper's Hito Hito no Mi lets him shift between several forms, from a small mascot-like shape to a towering monstrous one. He invented the 'Rumble Ball', a drug that unlocks additional transformations, and after the timeskip learned to control most of them at will.

Above all he is a gifted doctor, with deep knowledge of medicine and herbs and the rare ability to speak with both humans and animals.
